Switch Control Board (MX-series) is an name for Juniper MX-series carrier ethernet platforms.

SCB physically integrates glue logic, fabric and (optionally) hosts a pluggable routing processor board RE. It does not to packet processing and forwarding (which is a function of linecards).

Previous uses

In M-series products by Juniper Networks, S-Boards were pluggable boards designated for packet forwarding engine (PFE) function. The name SCB was used on M40 router.
